Assistant Professor of Medical Education or Instructor of Medical Education in Clinical Skills


The purpose of California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) is to develop and operate a health and life sciences university, including colleges, a research institute and a graduate school of medicine, to educate future physicians and medical support personnel and conduct medical research and/or work with research organizations to further the science and art of medicine. Clinical Skills Course:

The Clinical Skills course is a longitudinal course designed to create a non-threatening environment for students to learn the doctoring science and art of effective communication skills and its application in patient history taking, physical examination and procedural skills. The course also focuses on the clinical reasoning process that leads to diagnosis and ability to develop an assessment plan. The course will also cover interpretation of basic diagnostic studies, provision of counseling and feedback.


Special Requirements and Conditions

  • All the clinical skills sessions are being recorded (video and audio) for educational purpose using the B- line system.
  • All clinical skills session encounters must be in strict confidence to maintain the integrity of the learning program as well as the privacy of students and standardized patients.
  • Come prepared for the sessions. The session plans and the resources will be sent by the Course Director in advance.

Position Purpose

  • Teaching clinical skills to medical students which includes providing constructive feedback to them on their performance
  • Assessing the students during clinical examinations (OSCE)


Qualifications/Minimum Requirement for Instructor

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO)
  • Clinical experience in their field of study
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with students, standardized patients, and faculty
  • Interest in teaching students
  • Basic computer skills- ability to use Microsoft office programs.


Qualifications/Minimum Requirement for Assistant Professor

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO)
  • Completion of a residency program in any of the medical disciplines
  • Clinical experience in their field of study
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with students, standardized patients, and faculty
  • Interest in teaching students
  • Basic computer skills-ability to use Microsoft office programs.
