Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination (also known as sexual harassment and sexual misconduct) in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial funding. California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) is committed to providing an environment that respects the dignity and worth of every member of its community, and strictly prohibits all forms of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. CUSM will respond to complaints, reports, or information about sexual harassment as described within CUSM’s Student Catalog Handbook, under the “Federal and State Regulation Policies” section, to stop inappropriate behavior, eliminate any hostile environments, and take steps to prevent the recurrence of the prohibited conduct.

The Title IX Coordinator assists our community with matters related to sexual harassment and sexual misconduct to ensure a positive learning and working environment are in place. The Title IX Coordinator’s responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing Title IX compliance;
  • Providing information and resources to individuals that make a Title IX complaint (i.e., Complainant);
  • Providing information and resources to individuals accused of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct (i.e., Respondent);
  • Ensuring prompt and equitable resolution of Title IX complaints;
  • Tracking and monitoring incidents of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct; and
  • Coordinating outreach, education, and prevention efforts.
