The Office of Faculty Affairs has a wide range of responsibilities including:

  • Design, develop, and implement professional faculty development programs and initiatives focusing on medical education, wellness, productivity and faculty satisfaction.
  • Focus on developing faculty throughout their professional careers in aspects of mentoring, leadership, professionalism, and resilience
  • Supporting faculty careers from appointment through retirement
  • Implement pedagogical strategies to guide faculty in implementing best practices for teaching and learning, including interactive teaching, providing feedback to learners, and promoting self-directed learning among learners
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of all faculty members
  • Serve as liaison to relevant groups such as AAMC and LCME to facilitate the implementation of current best practices and maintenance of accreditation in areas related to faculty affairs and faculty development
  • Implement and encourage faculty recognition and awards
  • Supporting faculty committees
  • Developing, interpreting, communicating and administering University and School of Medicine policies related to faculty employment.
  • Serving as the official resources for faculty data.
  • Overseeing and facilitating proactive administration of all aspects of policies and processes relating to faculty recruitments and appointments, workload assignments, evaluation, reappointments and promotions and other faculty employment actions.
  • Updating faculty publications such as the Faculty Handbook, Bylaws of the Faculty, Rank and Promotion guidelines.
