Biography
Sameer Hassamal holds an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of California, Irvine, and a medical degree from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Dr. Hassamal completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University, and a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry with a focus on chronic pain management at the University of California Los Angeles-Kern and Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He is board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Hassamal has had a broad clinical exposure to the field of general psychiatry, psycho-oncology, chronic pain and addiction medicine. He has worked in various relevant capacities including as a Director of a Psychiatry Consultation and Liaison Service, an Administrative Consultant with Los Angeles County Substance Abuse Prevention and Control, and an Assistant Professor of Supportive Care Medicine at City of Hope National Cancer Institute. Given his clinical and research expertise, Dr. Hassamal routinely teaches CME activities related to pain and opioid use disorders.
